Fire Training Centre Facility
The FTC is located at the end of Pottery Road just east of the City of Vernon ( see FTC Map ). The FTC meets or exceeds NFPA 1403, Standard on Live Fire Training Evolutions and all training props have been designed to meet or exceed the training requirements for NFPA 1001, Standard for Firefighter Professional Qualifications (NFPA: National Fire Protection Association).
The Fire Training Centre consists of the following:
· Classroom/Administration Building
Main Classroom Training Resource Storage Room
FTC Office Washrooms & Showers
Change Area First Aid Room
Audio Visual Room Truck Bay
Air Compressor/Equipment Room
· Burn Building
Two level structure (4,000 sq ft) used for fire suppression training in:
Above Grade Fire Attack Below Grade Fire Attack
Hidden Fire Attack Fire Behavior
Search & Rescue Positive Pressure Ventilation
Hydraulic Ventilation Fireground Command
Strategy & Tactics Rollover Simulations
High rise Training
· Ventilation Prop
Used for training and practice of Vertical and Hydraulic Ventilation
· Extinguisher Fill Station/Flammable Liquid Storage
Building and area used for storing/filling portable fire extinguishers and storing flammable liquids used during FTC training sessions.
· Natural Gas/Propane Props
Multi fueled training props for fire suppression training and practice of:
Car Fires Dumpster Fires
Electrical Fires Propane Tank Fires
Soffit/Sheered Gas Meter Fires
· Flammable Liquid Props
Various trays and pans fueled by Natural Gas and Propane (environmentally friendly) for suppression training:

Square Trays, 9 sq. ft., 16 sq. ft., 110 sq. ft.
· Laddering Tower/SCBA Maze/Installed Sprinkler System
Used for ladder training, rescue training and will house the SCBA Maze on the bottom floor. An installed sprinkler system will be added to the tower for training purposes.
· Pumping Pit
A 100,000 litre water reservoir combined with anti-turbidity chambers and a concrete catchment/recycling chamber is used for fire pump testing, maintenance, and training. Follow this link for more information on Pump Testing and the FTC Pump Testing Facility.
· Confined Space
A multi platform confined space training prop is the newest addition to the facility. Each platform simulates various confined space scenarios/applications.
